Just a stone’s throw from the town centre, between hills and the sea, in a district that was once but fields of violets and orchards, together with olive and orange groves in the middle of which stood a few rare houses. Holiday architecture developed there through the construction in the third quarter of the 19th century of this old travellers’ hotel, listed as part of the town’s “Patrimoine Balnéaire” (seaside heritage).
Nowadays, the peaceful and working-class district of craftsmen and small shops of yesteryear exudes a lively, family atmosphere.
A cultural centre has been set up and is to continue with new projects, aiming to encourage creators and entrepreneurs to take part.

Description

A holiday residence, this house with its eclectic, somewhat classical character was built by architect Charles-Baron, who was also the architect for the Villa-Rothschild. It quite naturally became an intrinsic part of the expanding town centre’s urban development. From this time, it still has a noble dressed stone facade and its leisure garden. The polygonal porch forms a projection, covered with a leisure terrace and featuring a balustrade, completed by two symmetrical hanging stairways, preceded by a horseshoe-shaped porch. All the windows have a large or a small balcony, with a balustrade. Modillion cornices on the central building, the roof dormers of which illuminate the attic floor, give way to sculpted pediments crowning the wings.
Behind the impressive entrance door, a vestibule leads to a lift and the stairways going upstairs. A piano, a period bench seat and a restored fresco set the tone and take visitors back to the “Belle Époque” era.

The flat

Laid out in an L-shape on the second floor of the building, the flat spans a surface area of 97 m², under 3.4 m high ceilings.
A central entrance gallery provides access to all the rooms, creating a harmonious and naturally luminous property.
Completely renovated in a contemporary style, using first-rate materials, the original decorative features have met their match.

Our opinion

Set in a lively district in full revival, just a stone’s throw from the town centre, some 600 metres from the beaches and the famous Boulevard-de-la-Croisette, this flat for art lovers, steeped in the French Riviera light, has many assets. It could house a couple of aesthetes or even a family. (A communicating, 130 m² flat is also available for purchase for those seeking to have a business activity and their family life all under the same roof). It is highly sought-after as a rental property by a high-class clientele during exhibitions and the film festival courtesy of its proximity to the town centre and the “Palais des Festivals et des Congrès” convention centre. The quality of the renovation works which have been carried out and the interior facilities will enable future owners to move into the premises straightaway.
