The city of Paris used to be divided into three separate areas: the city and centuries-old seat of royal power; the town and its shops on the right bank; and the university on the left bank, where the Sorbonne was created in the Middle-Ages. It was not until the 17th century that the area started to be known as the “Pays Latin” (Latin country), as mentioned in the 1690 Furetière dictionary. The origin of this nickname came from the propensity of the inhabitants of its narrow, paved streets to speak in Latin, the language of scholars. It was in the 18th century that the area became known as the “Quartier Latin” (Latin district). Nowadays, this sector still sees as many young people hurrying to the amphitheatres and conference rooms, taking a break for a coffee at one of the tables in the typically Parisian brasseries that make up the district. This flat is right there on Rue-Saint-Jacques, the main road through old Lutetia taken by pilgrims on their way to Santiago-de-Compostela.
Description

Our opinion
This flat is right in the heart of the Latin district, just a stone’s throw from Observatory and Luxembourg Gardens. It is in privileged surroundings where the history of the “City of Lights” was written. It was here that Jean-Paul-Sartre wrote his first works at the Lycée-Louis-le-Grand, it was here that Victor-Hugo like to eat with his friends as they set the world to rights. Guillaume-Apollinaire and Emile-Zola also lived here. In a contemporary luxury building, both near and away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the undeniable asset of this flat, on a high floor and with its functional layout, is its outstanding aspect. Used to great advantage by the flat’s numerous openings, it offers residents the benefit of endless amounts of sunlight. Modernised and redesigned in keeping with requirements, this flat will, most certainly, become a pleasant pied-à-terre or a home perfectly suited to a family way of life.
