A restored flat of 49 m², in a 17th century building,
a stone's throw from Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Paris, PARIS paris 75006 FR

Location

The flat is right next to the famous Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, between the Rue du Dragon and the Rue de Rennes. The street was built at the beginning of the 17th century and is named after the famous potter and enameller Bernard Palissy (1510-1590), who is said to have lived on rue du Dragon. In this mythical district of the Left Bank, elegant Parisian boutiques, café terraces and renowned Parisian university institutions such as Sciences-Po or the Penninghen school of art direction abound. The Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Saint-Sulpice and Sèvres-Babylone metro stations (lines 4, 10 and 12) are nearby.

Description

The sloping facade of the dressed stone building, known as "the fruit", is typical for 17th century constructions. Stringcourses define the upper floors with their stylized ironwork railings. The moulded wooden gate surrounded by voussoirs leads to the reception hall and the start of a wooden Louis XIII period staircase with banisters. The renovated flat is situated on the fourth floor. The entrance door of the 47 m² north-west and south facing flat opens into a spacious living room featuring a white beamed ceiling. A bar separates the fitted kitchen from the living room. The spacious bedroom, located behind a stone wall, includes a study corner and a relaxation area. A sliding glass door leads to a bright walk-in shower room with a laundry space.

A furnished flat where authenticity and contemporary features come together

Brightness and calm welcome the visitor immediately on entering the flat. The flat has been perfectly refurbished, combining authenticity and modernity: terracotta floor tiles, white ceiling beams, dressed stone walls, polished glass walls, grey porcelain tiles, oak parquet flooring. In the generous living room, the fireplace clad with blue earthenware tiles and red Languedoc marble sits alongside a functional kitchen-bar with red lacquer units and slate-tile flooring. A polished glass sliding door leads to the bright shower room, fitted with a walk-in shower tiled with porcelain stoneware, just like its walls, and a laundry area. The 23 m² bedroom with its light oak parquet floor also serves as a work and relaxation space.

Our opinion

In this central district of the Left Bank, a hub of Parisian cultural and intellectual life, the 17th century period building matches the living space, which has been judiciously restored with great taste. A true sanctuary of silence and authenticity, this would be ideal for travellers looking for a pied-à-terre, a company wishing to set up its offices there or an interesting rental investment.
