In the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine, 30 minutes to the south of Rennes, from where it takes 85 minutes to reach Paris. Near to a market town with 8,000 inhabitants, in a residential and yet countrified setting, ideal for hiking whether on the easy or more difficult trails, winding through the surrounding countryside. A variety of activities linked to green tourism such as canoeing, fishing, horse-riding or cycling can be practiced in the immediate area around the premises. The proximity of large urban centres such as Rennes and its good communication routes is a real asset.


This estate currently spans a surface area of almost 9 ha. The chateau and its outbuildings are partially bordered by a moat. The entrance, on the north side, provides a view of the chateau, once said moat is crossed. The chateau can be reached via a drive, lined on either side with a row of oak trees. A bridle path on the east side provides another entrance which, reserved for pedestrians, is in line with the chateau’s main facade.

The chateau

This chateau was constructed in the 18th century on the site of an old fortified castle. Spanning three levels, it was rehabilitated for professional purposes after the war.
The chateau’s west facade looks out over a garden, planted with various species of trees and bordered by a moat.
The east facade faces the main courtyard, a vast, 100 m long, rectangular area. Its size creates a visual effect that enhances the stateliness of the building. Currently unoccupied and awaiting full restoration works, it spans a floor surface area of almost 1,000 m².

The outbuildings

The outbuildings are composed of numerous buildings which were constructed after the chateau. They include:
Two buildings, spanning approx. 445 and 441 m², a greenhouse, spanning approx. 91 m², a joiner’s shop, spanning approx. 298 m², an electrician’s shop, spanning approx. 248 m², a plumber’s shop, spanning approx. 119 m², a sheepfold, spanning approx. 125 m², a carpenter’s shop, spanning approx. 133 m², a building in the enclosed garden, spanning approx. 23 m², as well as a mechanic’s shop spanning approx. 311 m².

Our opinion

This chateau is part of an urban project supported by the town council aiming to infuse the local area with new dynamics and to develop a mixed zone dedicated to housing as well as the economic activity, whilst preserving and reinforcing the landscape quality of the site on which it stands.
This sale is intended for investors with projects that will preserve the setting and the current landscape as much as possible, whilst rehabilitating the chateau and those outbuildings which have architectural and historical interest.
This estate therefore represents a major project. Although a vast challenge to take up, the result can but bring the satisfaction of a successful restoration.
