50 km from Paris in the French department of Essonne
The town, neighbouring La-Ferté-Alais, is on the RER train line C. Slip roads for the A6 motorway as well as the town of Étampes are 20 km away.
The centre of La-Ferté-Alais has all main shops, schools and numerous state and private amenities. The aerodrome in Cerny, well known for its museum, is 10 minutes’ drive away. Milly-la-Forêt, a small attractive town with its cultural dynamics featuring Jean-Cocteau, its 15th century covered market place, its “Cyclopes” sculpture, and its “Conservatory of Medicinal Plants”.
The outdoor swimming pool, concealed by a low cover, is hewn in the vast paved terrace. The latter is separated from the rest of the garden by hedges, making the area quite private.
Two awnings, including one solid structure with wooden pillars and a flat tile roof, extend around the perimeter of the main facades
The house, constructed in 1975, initially comprised two adjoining dwellings in a single building. Nowadays, it is but one home, spanning a floor surface area of approx. 430 m². The facades of the main building were constructed from breeze blocks, lined with small brick on the inside. The walls were then faced with exposed stone over the entire ground floor and turret facades.
The ground floor comprises an entrance hall providing access to a bright, south-facing, double lounge-dining room and a fully fitted kitchen. A fireplace enhances a reading room, next to the lounge. These rooms, almost entirely open over both the exterior and the interior, create a large surface area, the privacy of which is preserved courtesy of the exposed beams. The floor is paved with terracotta tiles.
Reached via a stairway, the other section of the building is laid out as a dressing room, a bedroom with a bathroom and a bedroom with a separate bathroom, a laundry room, a billiard room and a study.
This level comprises four bedrooms, two of which have their own shower room, and a separate toilet; the turret houses a bedroom with a toilet.
The attic space covers the entire floor surface area of the building. It can be used as storage space, but its low ridge makes it unsuitable as living space.
Two garages, a set of cellars and storerooms compose the basement which runs under the entire floor surface area of the house.
The house’s recent architecture has given a charm and a particular character to the entire property. The layout of the house is perfect for numerous interesting projects. The two separate entrances would ideally suit owners seeking to run a freelance business from home or to create a second dwelling for a member of the family. This property has always been inhabited and is immaculately kept. The floors, the roofs and the walls are all in a very good state of repair. Future owners will be able to envisage moving in straightaway.
