Location
Nantes, a town with more than 600,000 inhabitants, attracts more and more residents every year. Its economic dynamism, the quality of its schools and universities as well as its proximity to the Atlantic coast no doubt explain this interest. TGV train links to Paris taking less than 2 hours and the proximity of an airport are further arguments for those seeking to live in a town, where it is easy to work, raise children and take full advantage of a rich cultural and social fabric.
Description
This property is accessed off a little street, bordered with high, old stone walls. It has two entrances, one opening directly into a garden and the other into a courtyard, which provides access to a garden and the front door to the house.
The house
The plans were drawn up by a renowned architect. The house, spanning almost 185 m² all on a level, is designed to open on to the garden. The resin floors are inspired by polished concrete.
The door opens into an entrance hall, with its cloakroom. It provides access to a very large room, opening on to the garden via a 6-metre-wide picture window. Two steps create a split level between the living room and a study. A bookshelf unit lines the wall facing the garden. A wonderful, slate worksurface, set on an olive wood base, enhances the open-plan kitchen.
Both areas given over to bedrooms can be reached from the main room. The first comprises a bedroom, opening on to the garden, a dressing room area, a shower room, opening on to a patio, and a separate toilet. The second, reached via a hall area, is composed of two bedrooms and a shower room, with a toilet.
A stairway, closed by a door, goes to a garage and a storeroom.
The garden
This enclosed garden, reached via the street or the house, follows on from a terrace, surrounding a swimming pool. An impressive eucalyptus and a mimosa tree as well as flowers bestow it with colour all year round. Tall laurel bushes keep it out of sight of onlookers.
Our opinion
This ultramodern villa has featured all modern-day home comforts since its construction. Between the light, the garden and the swimming pool, it is a pleasant place to live. No nuisances disturb this balance. The floors are cool in summer and warm in winter. The quality of the materials used is guaranteed to last. A few surprises await residents, such as the shower in the main bedroom which opens on to the patio, making it possible to take advantage of the sun with no loss of privacy. These serene, restful premises form a haven in the midst of a bustling town.
