Set along the Arles-Avignon road, 20 minutes at most from the main tourist and economic centres as well as Avignon TGV train station, on the side of the Rhône, on the edge of the Camargue and the Alpilles mountains.


This mansion house, on a tree-lined street in the midst of the old historic centre, clearly appears to be an established part of the town and its history. The main facade, spanning three levels, is rigorously symmetrical. The ground floor, featuring six discreetly decorated windows, is marked in the centre by a classical style entrance. On the first floor, the ornamentation is richer, with highly ornate, semi-circular arched windows. The top floor has a series of oculi, with surrounds featuring finely wrought plant decor. Once through the entrance porch, several courtyards succeed one another, two of which are under French ceilings, prior to reaching a walled garden. The oldest section, to the north and east, is composed of a series of rooms, dating from the 15th century and awaiting full restoration works. On the opposite side, facing the courtyard, a monumental stairway, bordered by stone balusters and adorned with foliage, provides access to the living rooms on the first floor. A large outbuilding on the road side has two entrances for vehicles. A superb, spiral, stone stairway goes up to the attic space as well as to the tower terrace, a culminating point with an outstanding view of the town and its surroundings.

The mansion house

Via the entrance porch, through the first courtyard under a wooden ceiling, a set of rooms dating from the 15th century, one of which is vaulted. A courtyard forming a lightwell housing facades featuring mullioned windows and fluted pilasters, cornices and sculpted modillions, resembling the 17th century facades of Arles. The vestibule also houses the main stairway, lined with dressed stone balusters, going up to flats on the first floor. At the end, an enclosed garden closes the view.

Ground floor
The entrance porch opens into the section dating from the 15th century. One room has a wooden ceiling with traces of colours; a vaulted room, followed by a room overlooking the enclosed courtyard. Another two rooms open on to the barn and the courtyard. Opposite, the main stairway goes up from the vestibule, leading to the first floor. A utility room. First floor
This level is divided into four flats. The first with a lounge, a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom; the second, with a lounge, a dining room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom; the third, with a lounge, a kitchen, a bedroom, a study and a shower room; the fourth, with a lounge, a bedroom and a kitchen.

Our opinion

This is probably one of the town’s most beautiful mansion houses, abounding in history with untouched architecture and real vestiges that are but waiting to be enhanced. These premises are classified in their entirety on the French Supplementary Historic Monument List. They offer great possibilities as regards rehabilitation and tax-deductible investment.
