This townhouse is just a few streets away from the beach, Barrière casino, Le-Normandy hotel, the market place and other leisure, culture and entertainment centres. Its street is one of the most sought-after in Deauville, a mythical seaside resort on the Fleurie coast, surrounded by the shimmering countryside of the Auge region. It is linked to Paris by train and motorway, journeys taking less than 2¼ hours.


Deauville is famous for its Les-Planches seafront promenade and its casino, both inaugurated in 1864. At the same time, townhouses, built of brick, sometimes laid in a chessboard pattern, half-timbering and quarry stone blocks, were constructed on either side of the avenue, running perpendicular to the shore and leading to the racecourse, another founding feature of this equestrian town. Their slate Mansard-style roofs feature numerous roof dormers. Arcades supporting wide terraces border the facades of the buildings. This villa is incorporated into one of them.

The first floor and its terrace are given over to reception rooms, the upper floors being used for night-time purposes.
The ground floor and the garden level have been converted into a 2-storey flat. A wicket gate at the end of the landscaped garden, gives it independent access.

The main entrance to the townhouse, under the arcade on the avenue side, provides access to a ground floor, raised on the inside via a few steps. On the garden side of this residence is a second entrance, with a wooden wicket gate, which leads to the beach and other leisure centres via a narrow, adjacent street.
Refined and stylised decoration give this property exceptional character.

A sauna and a laundry area are installed on this level.
First floor
The stairway goes up to a vast landing on the first floor. Two wide French windows face one another. They are topped with semi-circular-arched, glazed fanlights and lead to a lounge and a kitchen-dining room. The floor on this level is covered with strip pattern parquet flooring. The kitchen and the dining room are illuminated via large, slightly arched windows. A dressed stone fireplace, with a carved wooden mantel, is set opposite a large bookshelf unit in the lounge. Wainscoting lines the walls. Two steps and a French window give access to a vast terrace.
Second floor
A toilet has been installed half-way up the stairway between the first and second floors. The second-floor landing provides access, on one side, to two bedrooms, a shower room as well as a toilet and, on the other side, to the main bedroom, with its bathroom, shower and toilet.
Top floor
This level, illuminated via three skylights, is laid out with a large bedroom, as well as a bathroom, a study area and a separate toilet.

An integral or self-contained flat

This flat can be reached via two separate entrances: either via the vestibule in the villa or via a French window opening on to the garden.

Ground floor
The ground floor comprises two bedrooms, illuminated via large arched windows with a balcony, a shower room and a separate toilet. A white-wood stairway goes down to the garden level and provides access to a second lounge-dining room and a second kitchen. These two levels could, if so desired, form a totally independent flat, opening on to a terrace and a landscaped garden. At the end of the latter, reached via a gravel, Japanese-style pathway, is the second entrance to the house.
Garden level
The lounge-dining room of this flat, which could be self-contained or fully integrated into the house, is illuminated via large picture windows. Its wide strip pattern, light-coloured oak wood parquet flooring, its brick fireplace and its fitted kitchen, separated from the lounge-dining room via glazed partitions, create a family area or one that could be rented. The separate entrance at the end of the gate means that this flat could be private.
The terrace, on a level with the garden and paved with large terracotta tiles, is extended by a landscaped garden. A gravel alleyway, separating it into two, leads to a wicket gate opening on to the street. It is planted on either side with decoratively trimmed boxwood bushes, flower beds and pruned trees. The garden is predominantly concealed from onlookers by tall cedar hedges.

Our opinion

Just two hours from Paris, Deauville is the Normandy seaside resort the most well-known throughout the world. It is easy to follow in the footsteps of Coco-Chanel, Tristan-Bernard or André-Citroën. Strolling the streets of Deauville is like visiting an open-air museum, with seaside architecture. The townhouses, villas and other architectural follies, radiating out from Place-Morny, reflect not only exuberance but also a great variety of style.
The restoration and decoration of this delightful townhouse are particularly successful. Its privileged site makes it possible for residents to share sports as well as social, relaxing and unforgettable moments with all generations of family and friends as they wish, whilst living next to the Parisian smart set, aristocrats as well as current and past celebrities.
