Description
The group of rural edifices
There are five buildings.
The first one stands on the east side. It has a reception room that serves as a restaurant today. Indeed, it stands out as a restaurant for its fireplace and bar. A wooden door leads into a corridor, which connects to a kitchen, a storeroom and a lavatory. From the courtyard, another door leads into a bedroom with a bathroom and a lavatory. An outdoor staircase at the back leads up to the first floor, where there is a bedroom with a bathtub and a lavatory.
On the south side, the second building houses a lounge with a fireplace and underfloor heating. You step straight into it via a glazed wall that faces the court. A staircase leads up to a mezzanine that has been turned into a reading room. From the court, a second door leads into a barn and a workshop. At the back, a separate entrance door leads into a large bedroom with a bathroom and a lavatory. An outdoor flight of steps leads up to another bedroom, which also has a bathroom and a lavatory.
The third bedroom stands on the north side. Two bedrooms with bathrooms lie up on the first floor, which you reach from the back. You step into the ground floor from the court via a glazed door. This ground floor has terracotta-tiled flooring. It has a lounge with a stone fireplace and a bedroom. A bathroom with a white-stone fireplace includes a lavatory. And a technical installations room can be reached from outside.
The fourth building extends the third one northwards. An entrance hall connects to a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and a second lounge. A wooden staircase leads up to a walkway that connects to three bedrooms. An outer door leads into a lounge with a door to a shower room with a lavatory. An indoor staircase leads up to a bedroom and a mezzanine floor. An outdoor flight of stone steps leads to an extra bedroom with a shower room and a lavatory.
On the west side, there is a fifth building. It has a storeroom and an open-sided shelter that faces the court. A glazed door leads into a lounge with a fireplace. On one side, a corridor connects to an office, a bedroom and a linen room. On the other side, a door leads into a kitchen. An indoor staircase leads up to the first floor. Up here, there is a first bedroom with a lavatory and a tap, as well as a second bedroom with a bathroom. A door leads into a former cider factory down on the garden-level floor, beneath the building.
The grounds
The grounds cover around eight hectares. They are mainly made up of woods and meadows. The entrance driveway leads straight to the buildings. A parking area for visitors has been created on one side. You cannot see it from the collection of buildings. At a lower level, there is a kitchen garden, designed in the same spirit as medieval gardens. Further along the slope, there is an old orchard that has been preserved. It stretches to the edge of a pond, which is filled up with water from a spring. A path leads southwards to a heated swimming pool that is 12 metres long and 6 metres wide. The pool is treated using electrolysis. It lies in a commanding position. It leads to a meadow edged with a wood of pines, oaks, maples and age-old horse chestnuts. Nearby, there is a structure with a bar, a technical installations room and a shower. There is a garage and a storehouse nearby too. A second path leads to a tube-shaped sauna with a clear view of the countryside. The whole estate is regularly maintained.
Our opinion
The motto of this enchanting property could be “a place for each thing and each thing in its place”. This rural haven, which has been restored masterfully, cleverly combines 17th-century rustic architecture with touches of modern comfort. The underlying theme here is tasteful aesthetics. Together, the buildings form a hamlet-like grouping. The charming complex of edifices is perfectly suited to tourist accommodation and events. Indeed, it has won several hotel awards in its current form, here in a region of France – the Perche province – that is renowned for its high quality of life. Set back from the world’s bustle, silence reigns on these grounds. The lush backdrop is purely bucolic, with tones of green that change with the passing of the seasons. The vast plot extends this calm with an orchard, a kitchen garden and a swimming pool. The property leaves all kinds of possibilities open nevertheless. Indeed, it could even become a remarkable private home for anyone seeking space and tranquillity above all.
