A spring concert and a summer concert in the grand salon or on the terrace of the château have brought together artists from the national stages and regular attendees for sixteen years. Check the website for the schedule.
Guided tours of the castle are led by the owners every Saturday and Sunday in July and August at 3pm and 5pm. Enchanted tours for accompanied children between 3 and 8 years old are also offered. Consult the website for more details.

Our Dauphinois roots were an obvious reason, but so was the beautiful countryside of this little known region which remains untouched and rural. The dominant position of the area is breathtaking and the views are endless. We discovered Barbarin thirty years ago in January. Only one door leaf remained on the entrance gate and snow covered the second floor; but the magic of the place, its simple beauty and great nobility conquered our hearts.
Just like the region, the Château de Barbarin owes its appearance to the rolled pebbles and molasse sandstone. Rough yet noble, the chateau was embellished in the 18th century and is well designed for hosting with a beautiful enfilade of rooms and vast south-facing windows that let in an abundance of light. The imprint of dauphinoise chivalry still has a strong presence here.
Erected in the 14th century by the lords of Revel, the original square tower, which was designed to keep watch from afar, was completed by a rectangular wing in 1441. Marie de Roussillon, a powerful heiress, established the fief's centre of power here. In the 18th century, the Marquis de Marcieu (governor of Grenoble) transformed the old fortified house into a beautiful chateau. It served as a stopover for him when he travelled to manage his affairs in southern Vienna where his family owned 23,000 hectares of land! After the property was abandoned in the 20th century, we carried out major restoration works to restore Barbarin to its former glory.
Guests of the Château de Barbarin are to treat it as their home! The lounges are open and everyone can settle down wherever they want, according to their desires. The quality of the chateau's objects and furniture is such that we thoroughly enjoy sharing them with guests and talking about them. We also enjoy inviting guests to our table where we combine the good, the fresh, and the local with crystal ware, fine earthenware and silverware.
We are passionate about heritage, getting to know others and deciding together what rare and authentic doors we can open for you. Isère is a land of chateaus, and from Barbarin we enjoy a view of the Rhône valley and the Vercors which are filled with gems. The road to Santiago de Compostela passes just 150 meters away and the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval is fifteen kilometres away. Regional products have a strong presence and the organic cheeses from the Canabit farm are worth a detour, as are the vegetables from Elsa Marissal in Revel-Tourdan that will make your mouth water. On the way to the banks of the Rhône, you can stop off at the Saint-Désirat wine cellar. If you decide to stroll through Berlioz's lands, the Jouvenal chocolate factory offers a warm welcome in Côte-Saint-André.
