The beauty of the place won us over immediately! Nestled in the Aix countryside, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, the Château de Valmousse is both a heritage site and a space dedicated to the joy of living. This happy blend allows for everyone to enjoy a magical experience in Lambesc. Anchored in nature, we live life in this large, charming house and every day is perfumed with the authentic scents of Provence!
The Château de Valmousse, whose architecture is typically 18th century, has a classic facade adorned with twelve mascarons that represent the seasons. The chateau also has a charming chapel from the beginning of the 19th century that overlooks the main courtyard. The building has a total surface area of 2,500m2 with several period lounges, a music room and a billiards room.
Located in the heart of Provence, the Château de Valmousse is an exceptional place and one of the most beautiful properties the south of France has to offer. Built in 1704, the chateau is now a private property surrounded by a twenty-four hectare park that features an equestrian centre, a French garden with a fountain, a greenhouse, a large pond and a swimming pool. Valmousse is a prime cultural site featuring a painted décor by François Marius Granet (neoclassical painter and student of Jacques-Louis David) at the entrance. Following a complete refurbishment of the Chateau in 2020, Valmousse is now a beautifully polished site. The decoration was completely redesigned by introducing furniture and art objects found in Provence, and wallpapers and curtains by Pierre Frey. The care taken when hosting extends to our open-air theatre which is used for music concerts and theatre evenings.
Being able to sleep on site is a real plus. The chateau has around thirty rooms divided into four spaces that can be separated or grouped together. It can be completely privatised by the week. In addition to an exceptional accommodation capacity, a covered space of more than 200m2 allows all guests to be sheltered in inclement weather and nonetheless enjoy a breathtaking view of the terrace and French garden - another plus that will allow you to leave any worries about summer storms behind! A stay at Valmousse is characterised by elegance, and a variety of spots, ranging from gardens and tree-lined terraces to classic lounges, offer different atmospheres to play with. The property has many surprises, both inside and out, intimate and large spaces, and views of the surrounding nature, to accommodate encounters.
The Valmousse estate has an equestrian centre that can accommodate horses all year round, with show jumping and dressage arenas, in the heart of a twenty-four hectare park that is ideal for outings. As for gastronomy, we would recommend Le Mas Bottero, a Michelin-starred restaurant on the road to Aix-en-Provence in Saint-Cannat. Their specialty, lamb cooked in hay with organic chickpeas and savory, is delightful! In terms of natural heritage, the Sainte-Victoire mountain is visible from the heights of the Valmousse estate. It was a refuge and inspiration to Cézanne, and is quite a sight to behold under the orange sky when the sun it setting.
