About twenty minutes north of Ibiza Town, amidst the arid lands that have been shaped by man over thousands over years, this old farmhouse now looks like an oasis. The vast, dazzlingly white buildings are emblematic of the island's traditional architecture and stand in the middle of an exuberant garden of flowers and fruits. The renovation of the premises was the work of experts who brought a studied sophistication to the once purely functional property. Materials, objects and furniture were carefully selected to form an original combination of contemporary design and rustic style. Those who long for the balance of hedonism and simplicity, Ibiza's best kept secret, will be utterly charmed here.
We are from Vienna, Austria. Ibiza had long embodied our aspirations and the type of place we wanted to live. We were attracted by its nostalgic air, beautiful landscapes and rural dimension. This small Spanish island is also a paradise that brings exciting and creative people from all over the world together through love, music and life. The rich and the poor, bankers and hippies come together in the magic of human connection, regardless of nationality, race, religion or age. There is something magnetic about Ibiza. Every arrival felt like coming home, and so we decided to settle here! With a wealth of experience in trips and homestays in Ibiza, we opened our house to recreate the same unique atmosphere and offer our guests a bucolic retreat surrounded by farmland and the sounds of nature.
Our property is a 'finca', a traditional Ibizan country house with the main building dating back to the 18th century. The finca is surrounded by terraced fields supported by stone walls to suit the hillside location. The architecture is simple and sober with independent square modules organised around a rectangular building housing the main hall or 'sala'. Each module has a level ceiling with wooden beams and they originally served as stalls for animals, separate from the main body. Thick walls and small windows ensure the interiors stay cool in summer and warm in winter. The whiteness of the walls also plays a role in keeping the building cool by reflecting the sunlight.
The property served as the ancestral home of an old Ibizan family for over 200 years and was converted into a country hotel in the second half of the 20th century. In the course of the takeover by the current operators, extensive renovation work was carried out and the furnishings of the guest rooms were brought up to a contemporary "rough luxe" standard.
The property is set in a verdant garden, hidden by majestic palm trees, huge cacti, fruit trees, lemon trees, and masses of purple bougainvillea and hibiscus surrounded by farmland. There are a number of common areas available to our guests including a library, a swimming pool and a bar serving light snacks throughout the day. Each room is a veritable art gallery dressed in antiques and vintage items from the island and our own collection in Vienna. The breakfasts are made using organic and local products. Our Dinner4Friends is an exclusive dinner club held during the summer months and promotes the concept of social dinners. Our guests, neighbours and friends gather around a long table and get to know each other by experiencing the “Ibiza Spirit”. We offer the luxury of simplicity.
The Ca's Pagès and Es Caliu restaurants serve traditional Ibizan cuisine. Food Studio is a tapas bar in the fishermen's quarter of the old marina near the Unesco site of Dalt Vila. Terra Masia is an organic farm that invites the best chefs on the island to create magical twilight evenings through special pop-up dinners in picturesque fields and under the stars. In Can Musón, an ecological agricultural farm, visitors can taste traditional cuisine prepared with the farm's natural, fresh and organic products, “from the land to the kitchen and from the kitchen to the table”. Mon Château en Espagne is a must-see for antiques, and vintage and designer pieces. Ibiza Code is a clothing store that can help with the Ibizan dress code.
The entirety of Finca Legado is available for intimate weddings and other celebrations. It can accommodate sixty people for a sit-down dinner and one hundred and twenty for drinks receptions. The privatisation of the property includes the reservation of the eleven guestrooms.
