Versailles, YVELINES paris 78000 FR

Location

At the entrance to Versailles’ peaceful Montreuil neighbourhood, which combines heritage with la dolce vita, the villa de la Reine is located near Saint-Symphonien’s church, while the many shops in the area, the nearby Notre-Dame neighbourhood with its iconic Market Square, as well as a number of primary schools, greatly facilitate everyday life.
In addition, the Versailles-Rive-Droite train station, which provides access to the Paris-Saint-Lazare train station, is 15 minutes away on foot, whereas the streets, lined with trees, manicured gardens and stately dwellings, form an idyllic setting where architecture and nature go hand in hand, creating, in turn, a sought-after and refined living environment.

Description

Nestled within a calm neighbourhood, the dwelling, with approximately 270 m² and a total of eight bedrooms, is located at the end of a private lane. With three storeys over a basement level, its exterior, which features red brick and light-colour plaster, is decorated with classical architectural details, whereas its immense living area of nearly 60 m² features a floor-to-ceiling height of three metres. In addition, on the ground floor, large arched quadruple-casement, small-paned windows provide ample sunlight, while the dwelling’s front door, located in the middle of its façade, is accessible after ascending a couple of steps.
Lastly, a small, well-maintained garden precedes the dwelling’s front steps, adding to the property’s overall hospitable feel, while, behind the house is a second, larger garden.

The Ground Floor

The front door opens on to a central entrance hall, whose black and cream-colour cabochon floor tiles provide it with a classical and, yet, timeless look. Traversing the entire dwelling and very sunny, it communicates, on the right, with a double living room and, on the left, with a dining room as well as a kitchen and lavatory, while a double quarter-turn wooden staircase, directly opposite the front door and safeguarded by a carved balustrade, provides access to the upstairs floors and basement.
Flooded in light thanks to its glazed front double doors, stairwell windows and wide arched windows in the living room and dining room, the ground floor includes a living room with mitred Herringbone hardwood floors, delicate crown moulding and two marble fireplaces, both topped with a glazed chimneybreast. As for the dining room, with a pink marble fireplace and matching hardwood floors, it communicates directly with the kitchen, creating a sense of balance and fluid circulation throughout this level.

The First Floor

Safeguarded with a classical bannister, the elegant simplicity of which reveals the meticulous attention paid to the dwelling’s architectural details, the staircase ascends to the spacious first floor landing, which provides access to four large rooms. One of them has been converted into a study, whereas the three others have been kept as bedrooms: quite comfortable, they each provide a serene and relaxing environment.
In addition, all these rooms share a large bathroom, as well as a lavatory, while, throughout, straight-plank hardwood floors, in a natural colour, provide a nice contrast to the dwelling’s white walls. As for this level’s tall windows, which can be found in each room, they provide constant and unvarying luminosity, which highlights this floor’s overall peaceful atmosphere, whereas its balanced proportions, ample light and elegant amenities have turned this floor into a functional and, yet, undeniably comfortable space.

The Second Floor

A large open landing, of more than 20 m², is located in the middle of the floor and represents an additional space that could be used for a variety of purposes: a game room, a screening room or a studio dedicated to creative pastimes. Like the first floor, this level features uninterrupted hardwood floors, which unifies the whole and provides a charming touch, while the landing itself provides access to three bedrooms. The largest of the three stands out thanks to an immense picture window that spans almost an entire wall, inundating the room in natural light and creating a sunny and relaxing atmosphere.

The Basement

Completely tiled and meticulously organised, it is accessible from the entrance hall and gives on to the garden located behind the house, while this floor, lower than the main façade, effectively creates a garden level for the dwelling.
As for the space, with an impeccable layout, it includes a bedroom, a large shower room, which could also be used as a laundry room, a lavatory, a garage, a furnace room as well as a wine cellar, whereas, under the furnace room, a vaulted cellar, which awaits to be converted, is an invitation to personalise this space, whether that be for storage, amassing a wine collection, or any other use depending on one’s needs. Lastly, its direct access from the garden and overall practical configuration makes this a versatile level, fully integrated with the rest of the dwelling.

The Back Garden

Behind the dwelling, a garden planted with trees, provides a verdant and sunny space, while its patios are ideal for al-fresco meals and its many trees create shaded areas perfect for relaxation. Thanks to this peaceful and sunny environment, this dwelling’s future occupants will be able to take full advantage of the outdoors on nice days.

Our opinion

This dwelling, with a rare cachet, combines classical refinement with contemporary amenities, while each room was meticulously designed so that the natural light interacts with its large spaces in order to create an environment that is both welcoming and relaxing.
As for the ground floor, it features a fluid living area furnished with elegant materials, marble fireplaces and original hardwood floors, whereas, the first floor, with its comfortable layout, combines practicality with tranquillity. In addition, the basement, convenient and well organised, provides multiple possibilities, while the exterior, with its tree-filled garden, acts as an extension of the dwelling and is an invitation to step outside and enjoy the outdoors. Exuding an overall unified feeling thanks to the quality of its spaces, balanced volumes and elegant finishing details, this enchanting dwelling provides a comfortable and sunny living environment within a prestigious setting.
