Description
The house
The house has a ground floor and a first floor. It faces east and west. An outdoor entrance area and parking space lie on the east side. When you enter the house, you step into a vast reception space with a cathedral ceiling. This space is punctuated with large windows that bathe the room in natural light. The flooring is made of marble. A guest lavatory and a cloakroom adjoin the lobby. The kitchen, dining area and lounge form an open space that you can move around smoothly. This open space faces the terrace, which is at the same level as it and leads to an extensive garden. The lounge is a sunken space that features a large fireplace and forms a warm, welcoming spot that is perfect for comforting fires in the winter. At the same level, there is a scullery, a pantry, a linen room and the main bedroom, which has a private bathroom, lavatory and walk-in wardrobe. This main bedroom also leads straight out to the terrace, which is at the same level as it, via large sliding windows that offer a sweeping view of the garden and forest. Upstairs, there is a large mezzanine edged with a timber balustrade. It looks down at the reception space. This mezzanine connects to three bedrooms with sloping attic ceilings and a bathroom. The largest bedroom has water inlets and outlets, so it could have its own en-suite bathroom. Wood-strip cladding covers the bedroom ceilings. And wood-strip flooring extends across this upstairs level.
Our opinion
Whether you use this property as a second home or a main dwelling, a strong sense of peace and leisure pervades this haven. The house is a jewel set in a backdrop of lush vegetation. Its original architecture and layout offer a unique environment and a practical design that is typically French. Its interior is cosy, yet it is also spacious, warm and understated. It combines modern architecture with classicism with its ashlar walls and slate roofing. The garden is large enough for pleasant spaces to be added without being disturbed by playful shouts of children amid the prevailing calm here. So all generations can enjoy this delightful property.
