Location
Châtenay-Malabry is a town that combines modern town planning and natural heritage. The Chastenay district stands out thanks to its peaceful as well as green setting and is close to several sites of interest, such as the Vallée-aux-Loups park and the house of Chateaubriand, a historical residence dedicated to the writer François-René de Chateaubriand, who once owned the estate as well as the park in Sceaux and its mansion. The area boasts good public transport links, particularly via the RER B train-line that allows the townsfolk to reach Paris and the surrounding region with ease, while benefiting from the peace and quiet of an outer suburban town.
Description
It is surrounded by a lawned garden. A variety of different types of trees, such as conifers and maples are planted around the edge of the property, creating a wall of greenery with the neighbouring houses. The calm and lush, green street is located in a residential district.
The house
The entrance to the property is via a pedestrian gate opening onto the street. A second, larger gate leads to the garage. The lush garden, most of which is made up of lawns, surrounds the house. For greater peace of mind, the property has a burglar alarm.
The ground floor
A glazed wooden door leads into the house. After the entrance, to the left there is a large, almost 45-m² lounge with a ceiling height of 4.5 metres. The floor is paved with ochre-coloured tiles. Light floods into the room through two large windows, which, along with the other windows, are fitted with electric roller shutters. From the lounge, a door leads into the comprehensively fitted kitchen which opens out onto the patio. Opposite the lounge, a corridor leads to three bedrooms measuring 11 m², 12 m² and 15 m². All of them boast French windows also opening out onto the garden and patio. Each of the bedrooms also has wardrobe space. The bathroom is tiled in a style designed to reflect different shades of stone. It has a double washbasin, bath, walk-in shower and bidet. There is a lavatory in the corridor. Next to the entrance door, there is a lawn ideal for a washing line. It could also be used for a vegetable garden. Finally, the downstairs level also has a utility room.
The first floor
A wooden staircase leads upstairs to a mezzanine that looks down onto the lounge. The floor is made up of solid wooden floorboards. The vast master bedroom has a large wardrobe as well as an en suite bathroom with a bath. An office space can be found at the very end of the upstairs floor. It could be transformed into an extra bedroom if necessary.
The basement
A staircase leads from the lounge to the basement, which includes a vast, open storage space as well as a part for parking vehicles. There is also a room used as a wine cellar which has an earthen floor.
Our opinion
This house and its neighbourhood combine may practical aspects with a special living environment, especially for families, retirees or people looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the centre of Paris.
