Our opinion

On the edge of the historic centre, the Anjos district is home to Lisbon’s alternative culture. It abounds in students and trendy artists, seeking a lively, working-class district, away from the Portuguese capital’s main tourist areas. This 117 m², 2-storey flat is on the fourth floor of a building, just a stone’s throw from the Embassy of Italy. The bedrooms on the first level communicate via a stairway with the large living area, comprising a lounge and a fitted kitchen. The balcony with its picture window lets copious amounts of daylight into this meticulously renovated, spacious flat. Polished concrete floors provide a wonderful contemporary touch throughout. Local restaurants are said to serve excellent “pasteis de Belém” tarts, but a glass of port on the shady terrace is perhaps enough to please new owners.
