Our opinion
This penthouse, a real eagle’s nest looking down on to the luxurious houses in the district of Lapa, is on the top floor of a 1970’s building, near to Rua-das-Janelas-Verdes. It was in Ramalhete Palace, just a stone’s throw away, that the writer Eça-de-Queiroz set the tale of his masterpiece “Os Maias” (The Maias), a realistic family saga relating to society in 19th century Lisbon. Reached via two lifts, this flat extends from an entrance hall over 431 m², comprising a library, seven bedrooms and a vast lounge. The spacious rooms and their perspectives are outstanding and unobstructed, the impression of space and luminosity is further enhanced by its many windows and picture windows set in the walls in all the rooms. The view of the river through to Castelo-de-São-Jorge (São-Jorge’s castle) from the balcony, going around the entire facade, and from the private, 200 m² rooftop terrace is completely unobstructed, a promise of captivating sunsets in the historic centre of the white town that is Portugal’s capital.
