Its name comes from the grain trade, underlining the central importance of trade in this district – a sector that was long brought to life by guilds and workshops. The street lies next to the road Rue Montorgueil – an emblematic centre of gourmet Paris – and is close to the city’s famous 19th-century boulevards. Indeed, the street is integrated into a dense urban backdrop steeped in history. Discreet townhouses, old workshops and delightful inner courts create an authentic architectural backdrop here.
