Location
Near the rue de la Paix and the Place du Marché Saint-Honoré, most of the buildings were built well before the Second French Empire. The street in which the building is located represents a link between the architectural gem of the Place Vendôme and the dynamic Marché Saint-Honoré, with its many restaurants and outside seating areas. At the end of the 17th century, land located around the Place Louis-le-Grand – now the Place Vendôme – was proposed to financial officers and architects. Jules-Hardouin Mansart, only recently ennobled, acquired one of these parcels of land, on which five buildings were built, including the one in which the flat is located, which is also listed on the supplementary inventory of historical monuments.
Description
The property is located in the building, which is situated, once past a carriage door decorated with fine moulding and sculptures, at the back of the cobblestone courtyard. A wide oak staircase leads to the flat, which occupies the 4th floor. The flat’s entrance opens onto a luminous dual-aspect foyer with two windows facing one another and dimensions large enough to accommodate an office. The rectangular dining room, two sides of which are bevelled, is naturally oriented towards the windows, which look out over the courtyard, adorned with beautiful façades. With a Turquin blue marble fireplace in one corner, this room is directly linked to the kitchen, which is entirely fitted out with customised stainless steel fixtures. Following on from the dining room is a large dual-aspect living room, which includes three windows, a functional fireplace and a floor-to-ceiling height of 3.2 metres – remarkable for this level.
A bedroom, with large dimensions, extends the living room space via a double door. All the floors in this part of the flat are covered in Versailles parquet, remarkably burnished over the centuries. A hallway then leads to a bathroom with a window, and a second bedroom, very spacious, with a lavatory and a separate entrance. In the courtyard, a parking space can be attained with the flat at an additional cost. Lastly, in the basement, two cellars also come with the flat, one of which is vaulted.
Our opinion
A dual-aspect flat on an upper floor, with fourteen windows, which guarantees luminosity in all seasons and makes it possible to benefit from the strong appeal of a central and sought-after arrondissement, among the most elegant and lively in the capital.
The Place Vendôme and the rue de Paix neighbourhood are known internationally for its fine jewellery houses, which represent luxury and refinement à la française. The Place du Marché Saint-Honoré, with its market, many restaurants and lively atmosphere, adds the conviviality and other pleasures of world-famous French gastronomy. The building dates from the 18th century, a time when France's influence was unparalleled, which is demonstrated by the flat's noble materials and decorative elements that have traversed the centuries and whose value and patina have increased over time. It will gratify its future occupants with a historical, authentic and luxurious atmosphere, marked by the elegance of its surfaces and classical décor, modernised in some places, within the peace and quiet of its interior courtyard.
