Location
As the true cradle of Paris, the Ile de la Cité is located in the capital’s historic city centre. Once the site of Lutetia, the former Gallo-Roman town that stood here centuries ago, it then became the urban heart of medieval Paris. The flat, located on the Quai aux Fleurs, which extends from the Pont Saint-Louis to the Pont d’Arcole, is not far from Paris’s flower market, while, in terms of public transportation, it is easily accessible via metro lines 1, 4, 7, 11 and 14, which are only 300 metres away.
Description
The flat’s grey-painted wooden front door, opens onto a narrow, tiled foyer, which provides access, behind another door, to the north-eastern-facing living room of approximately 14 m², the window of which has splendid views of the Seine and one side of Paris’s City Hall. With original straight-plank hardwood floors and exposed ceiling beams, this room also has a wide built-in cupboard that provides plenty of storage space. In addition, a small hallway leads to the other parts of the flat, such as the tiled kitchen, which abuts the living room and could easily be reunited with the latter, creating one large open space, after some minor adjustments are carried out.
Thanks to the flat’s balanced layout, circulation is facilitated between the different rooms, which are all sheltered from view. As for the bedroom, it is located on the southern side of the flat and has a balcony with a metal guardrail decorated with floral motifs, from where one can enjoy the sunset over Paris, while admiring Notre-Dame Cathedral in all its splendour, whereas the bathroom and lavatory are located on the flat’s northern side, as are built-in storage cupboards. Last, but not least, this dual-aspect flat with an exceptional location in the historic heart of ancient Lutetia, also comes with a cellar.
Our opinion
Thanks to its one-of-a-kind, historical location – the Quai aux Fleurs on the Ile de la Cité – this property is an undeniably rare gem, while the completely unobstructed views of the Seine and Paris’s Right Bank as well as Notre-Dame Cathedral also add considerably to the flat’s prestige. After some light renovation work or a moderate rearrangement of the premises, this flat will give its future occupants the priceless pleasure of living only a stone’s throw away from the capital’s historic city centre. In addition, the cathedral and flower market are only five minutes away on foot, while the flat’s privileged location in the City of Light, provides the opportunity for pleasant strolls around the island as well as quiet moments gazing at the bustling urban landscape from the flat’s picture windows.
