of a building with lift near the Porte de Saint-Cloud in Boulogne, on the outskirts of Paris
Location
Connecting the Porte de Saint-Cloud in the 16th arrondissement with the bridge of the same name, the Route de la Reine was built after the Chateau de Saint-Cloud was acquired by Marie-Antoinette in order to create direct access from Paris. The building is located along the street’s initial section, on the outskirts of Paris, less than 10 minutes by foot from the Porte de Saint-Cloud metro station, which is serviced by line 9. In addition, the 72 bus, a stop of which is located nearby, connects the Parc de Saint-Cloud with the Gare de Lyon, via the centre of Paris. Besides its proximity to the capital, this address also takes advantage of its proximity to many nearby shops and commodities.
Description
The flat’s entrance hall, which includes a cupboard, opens to the left onto a voluminous double living room of nearly 30 m². Two pairs of glass doors, each with a balcony, look out onto the canopy of the plane trees lining the avenue. To the right, the entrance hall leads to a kitchen, located in a quiet area at the back of the building with unobstructed views. The bedroom, of more than 11 m² – separated from the kitchen by a simple partition – shares the same view and is bathed in light by a pair of glass doors that also open onto a balcony. Opposite the bedroom, a bathroom stands adjacent to a separate lavatory. Walls and ceilings meet at a height of more than 2.6 metres with a simple, rounded moulding, typical of buildings from the 1930s, while the narrow-plank hardwood floors, in need of refurbishment, are arranged in an original geometric pattern.
Our opinion
Located only a few minutes from Paris, this “picture-perfect” two-room flat on an upper floor, with the comfort of a lift and the charm of a well-preserved building with ideal proportions and no major renovations planned, is not only sheltered from view, but includes a peaceful bedroom far removed from the urban hubbub.
Although very well maintained, the flat will, however, require a few upgrades to bring it up to modern standards of comfort. Perfectly suitable for those who prefer a separate kitchen and would keep the flat’s current layout as is, it could also be adapted, after some renovations, to include an open kitchen, with the possibility of turning the current one into an office, baby’s room or a large walk-in wardrobe. Lastly, the flat comes with a cellar, which is an additional and considerable plus.
