A Parisian apartment like a home floating above the rooftops, with a terrace and
four floors, nestled in the capital’s 6th arrondissement with views of Saint-Sulpice church
Paris, PARIS paris 75006 FR

Location

The edifice was built in the 17th century in a legendary Left Bank district of Paris tucked away between the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter and the square Place de l’Odéon. Chic boutiques and café terraces fill this charming area of the French capital. Here, the Jardin du Luxembourg park offers refreshing coolness and the nearby metro stations – Saint-Sulpice, Mabillon and Saint-Germain-des-Prés – lie handily on lines 4 and 10.

Description

The building is made of Paris stone that has been restored. It displays the understated elegance of late-17th-century edifices. Its facade is punctuated with stringcourses that have mouldings and the noble floor has tall windows, above which there are four floors with wrought-iron guardrails that have scrollwork motifs. An elegant greyish-green wooden door with mouldings leads into a gallery with a floor of beautiful Burgundy stone. A wooden staircase with a wrought-iron balustrade leads upstairs from here. A private lift takes you up to the dual-aspect apartment with four floors. The dwelling has been entirely restored. Its walls are white and oak strip flooring extends across it. Its terrace looks out over the rooftops of Paris. The apartment offers a liveable floor area of 178m² and a total area of 203m². It faces south and north and can be reached via the fourth floor. You step into a lounge and dining area that is filled with natural light and offers a floor area of 43m². An open-plan kitchen of brushed stainless steel adjoins it. The internal stairs lead to the third and fifth floors, which are dedicated to private spaces, including three bright bedrooms, a reading room, a bathroom and a shower room. A 36m² master bedroom lies on the sixth floor. Each level is fitted with many cupboards and wardrobes and filled with natural light from a series of windows on both sides of the apartment. These windows offer magnificent views of the sky, the rooftops of Paris and the towers of Saint-Sulpice church. A parking space beneath the nearby Saint-Germain market hall is available as part of the property too.

A home floating above Parisian rooftops

As soon as you step inside the apartment from its private lift, you are struck by the spaciousness and diversity of the rooms on each floor, by the abundance of natural light, by the calm that reigns here, and by the unique Parisian cityscapes that you can admire through the windows. The matt white of the walls brings out the warm tone of the oak strip flooring. And touches of blue and black punctuate the interior too. From the edifice’s third floor up to its sixth floor, the levels are linked together via a wooden staircase with a wrought-iron balustrade. Receptions rooms and relaxation spaces follow one after another. The bedrooms are all fitted with bespoke storage spaces. On the fourth floor, there is an extensive lounge with a dining area. It offers a floor area of 43m². An open-plan kitchen of black wood and brushed stainless steel adjoins it with a breakfast bar. Through the windows, you look out at fine 18th-century facades. The third floor has a small lounge or fitness room, which could serve as an office. Beside it, there is a bedroom filled with natural light and a bathroom with black ceramic tiles. On the fifth floor, there is a second bedroom with a shower room, beside a spacious reading room with a big screen and a projector. Lastly, up on the sixth floor, there is a master bedroom with a 36m² floor area. It leads out onto an 8m² terrace with a panoramic view of slate and zinc roofs dotted with terracotta chimney stacks – a typical Parisian cityscape – with Saint-Sulpice church in the background with its baroque and neoclassical elevations.
