Our opinion

This large building is outstanding. Standing on the main square in a village between Liège and Brussels, it was the main entrance to a castle in the 17th century and is now its sole vestige. The size of the building, once a simple outbuilding, highlights the influence of this Seigneury, enfeoffed to the Dukes of Brabant since the early Middle-Ages. Flanked by its two unusual corner towers, with their Baroque style onion domes covered with slate, the brick and stone facade houses the porchway that once gave access to the stronghold premises. It now opens on to a courtyard and a private garden, both bordered by miscellaneous buildings, including a vast, 350 m² warehouse, a barn and 200 m² of offices. The main building, spanning 350 m² of living space, is spacious, comfortable and bright courtesy of its many glazed windows. The interior is in a good state of repair and will need but minor improvement works to give it back its splendour of yesteryear. In such a place, where every stone is steeped in history, imaginations are easily stimulated. A family home, company offices, a tourist project, this venerable edifice is ready for the new millennium.
