Our opinion

In the 18th century, Geneva’s leading patrician families knew that building was as much a political act as it was an aesthetic one. This château is the most accomplished demonstration of this: the enfilade of five drawing rooms, the wood panelling, the thirteen fireplaces and the grounds opening out onto Mont Blanc all attest to the social status of its patrons In 1812, Empress Joséphine was received here. The drawing room that preserves her memory still speaks to what this place has always been: a place where history and architecture have come together.
