Our opinion
Nardò, in the south of the Apulia region, is one of the pearls of the Ionian Sea. Not as well-known as Lecce, its famous neighbour, it is nevertheless one of the most beautiful illustrations of the Salentino peninsula’s Baroque style that flourished under Spain’s 17th century domination. Just a stone’s throw from the elegant Piazza-Salandra and the cathedral, this flat is on the first floor of a historic building in the centre of the old town. These premises are in need of full renovation works, but a few of its original features are in an outstanding state of preservation. Some beautiful vaulted ceilings notably give a glimpse of the rooms at the time of their construction. A roof terrace provides a view taking in the bell-towers and the noble facades of the town’s palaces, a romantic, timeless vista.
