Our opinion
The house was built in 1903, designed by the architect Victor Horta for his friend, the art critic and collector Sander Pierron. It is a remarkable dwelling, tucked away in a chic southern suburb of Brussels. This unique home has a colourful facade and stained-glass windows. Its shape is elegant yet plain. The property’s first occupant described it as ‘an impression of surprising, cosy luxury’. Since then, only three different owners have lived inside it. The edifice has been very well preserved, which is one reason why it was listed as a monument in 1998 for its elevations, its roof and certain items of fixed furniture dating back to the home’s time of construction. The building has five levels and a floor area of around 350m². A terrace and a 70m² garden extend on its south side. It is an ideal spot for strolling down Avenue Louise, past its boutiques to the lush Bois de la Cambre public park – the Belgian capital’s oasis of greenery.
