Location
The property is located within the southern part of Bretagne and the Morbihan department, in Carnac, a seaside community known for its megalithic alignments, many natural spaces and variety of pastimes: hiking trails, aquatic activities and marina, to name just a few. The beach is only a few minutes away on foot, while shops and schools are also nearby as is the dual carriageway and high-speed rail station in Auray, 20 minutes away. In addition, the Lorient-Bretagne Sud airport can be reached in just 50 minutes.
Description
The House
The ground floor
Once past the arched front door, the foyer provides access to a hallway that leads towards the living room with a tuffeau stone, brick and wood fireplace as well as small-paned glass double doors. To the right of the living room, a kitchen is extended by a dining room crowned with a cathedral ceiling, while a sliding glass door opens onto a south-facing patio. The rest of this level, with tile floors throughout, includes a bedroom with a shower room, lavatory and two garages.
The upstairs
A landing provides access to three bedrooms, including one with a bathroom and storage space. In addition, a second bathroom with lavatory was also created on the landing. On the eastern side of the house, a mezzanine under the cathedral ceiling overlooks the dining room.
The Garden
Surrounding the house on all sides and enclosed by low walls and fencing, the garden is made up of primarily grassy areas, except on two sides of the house where the patios, covered in either cobblestones or flagstones, are located. In addition, the garden also includes a number of trees and shrubs, either pruned into hedges or spherical shapes, as well as verdant flowerbeds.
Our opinion
Located only a few steps away from the beach in Carnac, this bona fide vacation home promises a living environment far from the maddening summer crowds and just a stone’s throw away from the menhir alignments that have made this seaside resort so well renowned. The house, bright and comfortable, primarily looks out onto its outdoor spaces including its large garden, concealed from view, while the property, capable of accommodating a large family throughout the year, could also be used as a second home in any season, lulled by the proverbial gentle way of life of maritime Morbihan.
