Our opinion
A real gem on the Ionian Sea, the ancient town of Gallipoli is built on a little island, separated from the mainland by an old bridge, itself defended by a fortress. The region is renowned for its beaches, like that of Lido-Pizzo, where holidaymakers from the world over come to relax and to go underwater diving in the turquoise water of the Gulf of Taranto. A few beautiful properties, such as this traditional masseria farmhouse, are still to be found in the surrounding countryside.
