Soleto is a little town in the province of Lecce, where residents still speak a dialect resembling Ancient Greek, a vestige of the colonies that were dotted along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Like its illustrious neighbour, the town is now known for having been one of the origins of the Salentino peninsula’s Baroque style in the 17th century. There still remain some elegant buildings, like this particularly well-preserved palace in the historic centre. Once through the porchway from the street, the interior features vast, adjoining, living or state rooms, enhanced here and there with painted or vaulted ceilings. The garden, behind the building, is already planted with trees and is big enough to take a swimming pool or a sunny terrace. The sea is not far away and the location is ideal for visiting the Salentino peninsula.
