Location
Located in Brittany, within the department of Finistère, the house is near Pont-Aven, the city of painters and Concarneau, known for its fortified City. The seaside property is in a village of 2,500 inhabitants and the first shops, schools and roads are only a few minutes away. Paris is a little more than 3 hours away via train and 1 hour by airplane from the Lann-Bihoue airport.
Description
Built at the beginning of the 1980s, the L-shaped house is covered with a slate roof and punctuated with three dormer windows on its front façade. With three inhabitable levels, the dwelling was entirely renovated and expanded in the 2000s. Most of the rooms have a full view of the sea, while some are extended by patios.
The House
The ground floor
The entranceway, with a tiled floor, leads to two different sections of the house. On the south side is a large double living room with a fireplace and hardwood floors, illuminated by two large windows facing the main patio and the sea, and extended by an open kitchen. Perpendicular to this, a hallway provides access to two bedrooms with storage, a shower room, lavatory, laundry room and a second living room-game room. A second entrance on the western side provides access to the large living room and a staircase that leads upstairs.
The upstairs
This includes two separate spaces. The first has a hallway and leads to two bedrooms with sea views, a game room-office, two bathrooms and a lavatory. The other section is accessible on the northern side of the house, above the second living room, and includes a dormitory and lavatory with either hardwood or carpeted floors.
The garden-level floor
This level also presents two distinct spaces: the first is for technical purposes with a furnace room that has outside access and a cellar on either side of a hallway, with a lavatory. In the extension, the second space leads to two bedrooms with wardrobes, flanking a bathroom, as well as their own private patios facing the sea.
The Garden
Enclosed by walls or vegetation and mostly populated by maritime pines, the property is composed of several spaces leading down to the sea. Around the house is an initial, simply landscaped space with an outhouse and shed at the back. Nearby, several verdant patios, sheltered from view, were created, while further south, a long stone wall is punctuated by a flight of steps in order to access another space below, partially filled with plants and whose southern border is made up of moorland, gorse and rocks. Direct access to the coastal path is located only a few steps further on.
Our opinion
Nestled within its garden of agapanthus and maritime pines, facing the immense blue horizon, this is a welcoming and immediately functional property. Like an authentic vacation home, the impression of light and well-being is omnipresent from all the rooms and shady patios. Warm, discreet and hidden from view, it has all the qualities for a family or a peaceful holiday by the water’s edge.
