A house in a 2,000-m² garden,
in Sarzeau, opposite the sea with direct access to the beach
Sarzeau, MORBIHAN brittany 56370 FR

Location

Sarzeau is a small town in Brittany with a population of 8,000, on the Rhuys Peninsula in the south of the Morbihan, in the heart of the regional natural park of the same name. Between the Gulf of Morbihan and the ocean, the town is surrounded by coves, rocky headlands, former salt marshes and vast beaches. It is also a superb spot for observing the local wildlife and plant-life.
The town of Vannes, which is the local administrative hub, is less than 30 minutes away and, via high-speed TGV trains, Paris can be reached in 2 hours 30 minutes. The nearest shops, schools and everyday services are only a few minutes away. The port in Crouesty can be reached in 15 minutes.

Description

The property is located in a peaceful residential street on the south side of the municipality opposite the ocean. After the entrance gate, a drive leads to the house, which is hidden behind dense vegetation. It is topped by a merely ten-year-old thatched roof, has a surface of approximately 155 m², possesses two storeys and is south-facing, looking towards the ocean. Though it is slightly set back from the coast, it still enjoys an uninterrupted maritime view and a sizeable garden. The long south-facing façade is bordered by vegetation and split stake fences. Several umbrella pines are dotted around the garden, at the end of which can be found the ocean and beach, down to which a private ramp leads.

The thatched cottage

The ground floor
Most of the rooms enjoy sea views. The open-plan kitchen is followed by a dining room / lounge boasting a stone and brick fireplace with a wooden mantelpiece. From this room, a bedroom with an en suite bathroom can be reached, followed by an office. The entrance to the north opens into a hall, which leads to the living rooms as well as a utility room / boiler room and a lavatory plus a shower room. The flooring is made up of terracotta tiles, which are carpeted in some rooms, except in the office, which has wood stripped flooring and the shower room which is tiled. The ceilings boast exposed beams and joists.
The first floor
A corridor leads to four bedrooms, a shower room, a bathroom with a lavatory and a loft space with a sloping ceiling.

Our opinion

This is an authentic Brittany thatched cottage in a large tree-filled garden with the ocean as the sole horizon. On entering the property, visitors are immersed in an ideal setting for seaside holidays where they can spend long days relaxing in the shade of the umbrella pines. The house requires refurbishment but is already more than suitable for families seeking space and a life amidst the great outdoors. The property is set back slightly from the seafront and tucked away from prying eyes, only a short way from the gems of the Gulf of Morbihan and the famous Suscinio Castle.
