On the far east side of Portugal, the Serra-de-São-Mamede nature park embodies an Alto-Alentejo region that is not only steeper but also greener and wilder. Renowned for its hiking trails, this vast natural park near Portalegre is home to numerous protected species of animals and plants, including Bonelli’s eagle, now the symbol of the region. This property stands on the heights of the village of Marvão, the ramparts of which face the border with Spain which stretches out on the horizon. Composed of several fully renovated, traditional houses, it has been transformed into a luxury, rural hotel. The main, authentic and elegant house is divided into two large flats and a self-contained studio flat. It has a private, 90 m² swimming pool, extended by a terrace, with a pergola and an unobstructed view over the valley. The second house, some 100 metres away, includes a lounge, an open-plan kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. This small character house also has its own 50 m² swimming pool which looks out over a vast 12-ha garden, planted with olive, cork oak and fruit trees. An ode to the pleasant, Iberian way of life, steeped in the fragrance of flowers and bliss.
