Our opinion
Forest was, originally, a vast stretch of wooded land to the south of Brussels where the Dukes of Brabant used to go hunting. It is now a wealthy, little, residential town, just a few kilometres from the European capital. It has the particularity of featuring some outstanding Art Deco buildings as well as constituting the culminating point of the urban area, the Altitude district forming the peak. This elegant home is not far from Avenue-Winston-Churchill, Duden Park and Avenue-Albert. Built of Massangis stone, it stands in the midst of large, wooded parklands, spanning 0.5 ha, protected by an enclosed perimeter and remote-controlled gates. A private driveway makes it possible for visitors to better appreciate the size of the building, designed by an architect in 1968. Reflecting a classical style, it was professionally renovated throughout in 2018. It does, however, still have many of its original features such as moulding, fireplaces, marble, parquet flooring as well as oak wood doors and panelling. The interior floor surface area totals 1,500 m². The entrance door on the ground floor opens into a majestic entrance hall, with a mezzanine. This provides access to a vast, panelled lounge, a main dining room, a family dining room and a small lounge with a study. The kitchen is fully fitted with professional equipment. Both a lift and a stairway go upstairs to a main suite, with a lounge, a bedroom, a bathroom and a dressing room. Five guest bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms, complete this level. A caretaker’s lodge, with a lounge, two bedrooms and a bathroom, can be used for accommodating staff. The basement notably comprises a wine cellar, a large games room and a garage, able to take up to four cars. Outside in the parklands are numerous outstanding trees, including a rare fern leaf beech tree, listed in the inventory. The view over Brussels is unobstructed, even from the outdoor swimming pool, with its shower and sauna. Countrified and elegant, this property would make an excellent family home. Ideally located, it has easy access to the various main roads, train stations and airports.
