Our opinion
Granada was founded here. In 1013, the Zirid dynasty began building the fortress on the Albaicín hill, around which the city would grow, long before the Nasrids built the Alhambra on the hill opposite. Ever since, the two hills have gazed at one another, and it is within this millennia-old dialogue that the house finds its place. Built in 2006 on the hillside, it has borrowed the architectural language of its predecessors: hand-crafted ceramics, walnut joinery, fountains and orange trees. Spread over four levels crowned by a tower, five bedrooms, a duplex and a self-contained flat mostly open out onto a balcony or terrace, like so many windows looking out onto the Nasrid palace. Further down, a patio and its winter garden provide a cool retreat.
