Description
The house
The ground floor
You step into an entrance hall with a floor of tiling patterned with small black square inserts. On one side, a glazed double door leads into a dining room with dado panelling. Wood strip flooring extends across the room. This room features an earthenware stove too. From here, a glazed double door leads into a lounge with a white marble fireplace. Cornices underline the ceilings, which have ceiling roses too. Back in the hallway, a door leads to a fitted kitchen, which is filled with natural light from a garden-facing window. Its floor is tiled. A glazed door leads into a conservatory, which is bathed in natural light from glazed walls of small panes. Wood strip flooring extends across the conservatory. A door leads into an office, which you can also reach from the entrance hallway. A lavatory completes this ground floor. And a door leads down to the cellar. From the hallway, a wooden staircase leads up to the first and second floors.
The first floor
A landing connects to a bathroom. A door leads out onto a terrace above the kitchen. There is a separate lavatory. A wooden door leads into the first bedroom, which has a black marble fireplace. Wood strip flooring extends across the room. There is a linen room on this first floor too. The floor is completed with a second bedroom, which also has a black marble fireplace, and a third bedroom.
The second floor
From the landing, a door leads into another bedroom, which is filled with natural light from a dormer window. On either side of the landing, wooden doors lead into two loft spaces.
The basement
You reach the basement either from an indoor staircase or from outside. There is a first cellar, which has a former linen room and a workshop, and then a second cellar. Another basement section can be reached from outside on the east side. It offers extra storage space.
The outbuildings
There is a garage on the house’s west side. You reach it via a gate. On the north side, there are old storerooms and hutches with roofing of zinc and interlocking tiles. The property includes an old kennel too.
The garden
The garden covers around 1,400m². It mainly extends around the north side of the house. It is dotted with yews, lilacs and linden trees. An age-old cedar towers over the property in the south-east corner.
Our opinion
This family home has authentic charm. The architecture of this delightful dwelling is classical in style, yet it has some distinctive features, such as a remarkable conservatory and a raised terrace. The haven opens up many possibilities for development. However, it already offers a comfortable interior bathed in natural light. This interior could be freshened up somewhat. With its 1,400m² garden, dotted with lilacs, linden trees and a majestic age-old cedar, this bucolic property feels like a country home. Yet it is just a stone’s throw from shops and the French capital.
