Description
The farmhouse
The ground floor
The main entrance is accessed via the north terraces, with a large-paned wooden French window opening onto a wide hallway. The view opens onto a double living room, where the interplay of volumes and natural light create a remarkable atmosphere. The large room has retained the characteristic proportions of old farmhouses, with an under-floor area, raised to the east by a more generous sloping space, where the beams have been left exposed. In the open-plan living room, the light is increased by the light whitewash renderings and wooden flooring. To the west, a passageway leads to a double kitchen, divided into two distinct areas: to the north, a fitted kitchen that opens onto the mountains through a large double-paned window; to the south, a light-filled dining area, which opens out onto the terrace and garden through a large-paned French window. Here too, limewashed walls and exposed beams meet the light-coloured tiled floor. An adjoining corridor leads on one side to a large utility room that could easily be converted into a bedroom, and on the other to a tiled shower room. A little further on, a door leads to a vast through space with double-height ceilings, flooded with light from large picture windows that open onto the north and south terraces. Topped by a mezzanine and combined with a shower room, the ensemble is distinguished by its white walls and light wood flooring, which amplify the brightness. It can easily be made independent of the rest of the house. On the other side of the central living room, a hallway leads to a first bedroom with generous volumes, with a double sloping ceiling and exposed beams. The light-wood parquet floor complements built-in shelving with wooden tops, while two windows and a French window bathe the room in light. It adjoins a large tiled bathroom under exposed roof timbers, and a wardrobe. It opens onto the gravel courtyard and the swimming pool area.
The first floor
The first floor is accessible in a variety of ways, so that movement through the house flows smoothly and it is suitable for different uses. It leads to three light-filled rooms opening onto the south-facing courtyard. In the attic, under a double-sloped roof structure, they have generous volumes. The light spreads softly across the whitewashed walls, punctuated here and there by recesses, built-in shelves and rough-hewn wooden doors, echoing the light wood flooring. From the living room, an internal staircase leads east to one of the bedrooms, which has a terrace and a private shower room with antique tiles. A second door opens onto a second shower room and leads to the other two bedrooms, which are currently arranged in a row. They also have independent access via an outside staircase from the courtyard on the kitchen side.
The garden
The 17 hectares of the estate are laid out in a succession of carefully arranged landscapes. After crossing the double hedge of cypress trees and the soberly planted parking areas, the first space directly linked to the house comes into view. Covered in gravel, it is divided into several distinct living areas: to the south, an area shaded by plane trees naturally extends the interior spaces, while to the east, a swimming pool and summer kitchen invite you to relax. This is close to a play area. Everything is punctuated by an abundance of typically Mediterranean vegetation, where lavender, honeysuckle, olive trees, rose bushes and rockroses awaken the senses. This sensory walk continues with a vegetable garden to the south and orchards to the south and north, where plum, olive and cherry trees mingle. Further south, the view opens out onto the vast fields around the farmhouse, with the silhouette of Mont Sainte-Victoire in the background.
Our opinion
A farmhouse where authentic ancient features meet a renovation that respects the skills of yesteryear. Here, every stone and every beam tell a story, while the generous volumes and omnipresent light celebrate a gentle way of life. The simplicity of the building contrasts with the grandeur of the surrounding landscape, where the mountain stands majestically guard. An intimate, contemplative refuge, the property is for those in search of harmony and nature, in a setting where every moment can be savoured like a living work of art, immortalised by the greatest painters.
