Our opinion
A square-layout farmhouse is never built at random. The enclosed courtyard provided shelter from the wind, organized daily work, and separated different functions without ever separating the inhabitants. This one, built in the 19th century, still follows this layout with a fidelity that the regional heritage inventory has finally recognized, without, however, subjecting it to the constraints of a formal designation. The main farmhouse has retained the spirit of this Brabant rural architecture: living spaces that flow seamlessly into one another, numerous bedrooms, and an office with a separate entrance that serves as a reminder that these farms once housed multiple activities at the same time. Surrounding it, former living quarters occupy what were once barns, garages, or attics, continuing the Brabant tradition of having multiple households live together under one roof. Brussels is 30 km away. Here, time moves at a different pace.
