Our opinion

This vast farming estate covers around 60 hectares near the picturesque Portuguese town of Serpa and its quaint, narrow streets. The houses offer a total useable floor area of around 350m². A walled court links the main house, which has two levels, to an older house with one level – a dwelling that is typical of Portugal’s Alentejo region. The two houses need to be renovated. Yet from their reception rooms, you can admire unrivalled views of the beautiful landscape. Outside, a terrace and a few steps lead to a swimming pool, which lies at a slightly lower level. This bean-shaped pool looks out at enchanting sunsets. A large agricultural annexe adjoins the main house. It offers a floor area of around 1,500m². And a former watchtower, now in ruins, completes the estate’s collection of buildings. This old watchtower once belonged to a medieval castle on the horizon. The extensive estate has clear potential for a project in tourism, especially given its scale and its closeness to Alqueva Lake, which is well known for its delightful beaches and water sports.
