Our opinion
Barrocal: the word combines ‘barro’ (clay) and ‘cal’ (lime). It refers to the band of limestone hills stretching between the coast and the Serra, forming the Algarve’s most unexpected landscape – one of carob, fig and olive trees. The house was chosen for this landscape. Entirely on one level, it covers some 258 m² on a plot of 2,380 m². Native species grow alongside the fruit trees in a garden that has had time to mature. The living room and kitchen face south and open out onto a terrace that is almost always bathed in sunshine.
