Our opinion
The Cyclades offer a lesson that architects are rediscovering: living in harmony with the land rather than dominating it. A hotel in Isternia puts this into practice. Inspired by ancient cave dwellings, it blends into the landscape, partially buried to shelter from the winds and keep the interior cool. Ten suites are spread across unobtrusive buildings. A swimming pool, a restaurant and communal areas offer comfort without ostentation. The view of the Aegean Sea needs no further selling point: it speaks for itself to visitors seeking authenticity. Tinos attracts investors and travellers concerned with sustainability. The site, covering over eight thousand square metres, still allows for measured expansion. A project that reconciles hospitality with respect for the location.
