Location
As the oldest neighbourhood in the 6th arrondissement, the Monnaie district runs along the Seine’s left bank across from the Ile de la Cité – accessible via the Pont Neuf – before extending all the way to the boulevard Saint-Germain. With Notre-Dame Cathedral only a stone’s throw away, the quai de Conti and the quai des Grands-Augustins create a picturesque promenade along the banks of the Seine. In addition, the neighbourhood includes many famous institutions, such as the Procope, known as the oldest café-restaurant in the capital, the Paris Mint and its museum, the Institut de France, in which the Académie Française is headquartered, the Lapérouse restaurant, a historical establishment, which regularly appears in films, as well as the prestigious School of Fine Arts.
Accessible via the RER B, which provides service to both the Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports, the RER C and metro line 4 from the Saint-Michel and Notre-Dame stations, this extremely central neighbourhood is also close to the metro lines 10 and 7 at the Odéon and Pont Neuf stations, respectively.
Description
The front door opens onto a small open kitchen with a counter that provides space for eating meals. Although petite in size, the kitchen is still large enough to fit a washing machine, dishwasher as well as a traditional oven. Continuing on from the kitchen is the main room of nearly 22 m², which represents the living area-bedroom, while a shower room with a lavatory, shower and washbasin are subtly integrated within the whole. With terracotta tile floors, exposed ceiling beams and the former hearth of the still visible fireplace, the space could also be divided into two rooms, which was its original configuration. Extremely luminous, quiet and in good condition, the flat is also sold with its corresponding cellar.
Our opinion
This flat has all the essentials of an ideal Parisian pied-à-terre: a prestigious address close to world-famous monuments and many mythical entertainment sites as well as easy access to airports and train stations alike. Located in an elegant and understated commonhold building, the flat has preserved its authentic atmosphere and, yet, is still equipped with modern appliances that provide both comfort and convenience. In addition, the premises’ abundant luminosity coupled with its unobstructed views of the sky and Parisian rooftops represent two additional and considerable advantages for its future occupants.
