We’re originally from Amsterdam. Ever since my children were little, I’ve dreamt of living closer to Italy, a country that brings together everything that matters to our quality of life: the sea, cultural richness and an environment that fosters creativity. As an artist, I am deeply attached to history, whilst my husband, a trained chef who went on to become a teacher, shares my passion for Italian cuisine and culture. After eleven years of regular holidays at an agritourism in Tuscany, we decided to buy a house there. A first attempt, intended for my mother, failed. We then continued our search and discovered this villa, situated near Forte dei Marmi and Pietrasanta. Its architecture, its setting between the sea and the mountains, and its romantic atmosphere immediately won me over. Despite the work that needed doing, I could see the exceptional potential of this house.
This former Tuscan farmhouse, measuring approximately 220 m², originally featured a highly compartmentalised layout, with small, enclosed rooms and it was surrounded by a dense garden that restricted the amount of natural light. The refurbishment created spacious areas by removing partition walls, raising the ceilings and installing large windows on two facades. Boasting an exceptional panoramic view, the house is now bathed in light, which floods through the living areas and draws the eye towards the olive grove and the Tuscan mountains. The exposed beams and terracotta floors have been kept, preserving the building’s authentic character.
This old building was one of the outbuildings of the Villa Coli and its extensive estate, which belonged to a family from the Tuscan nobility. There used to be a large agricultural complex where several hundred people lived and worked around the main house, which is still visible from the property. The farm was used for goat rearing, fish farming and the storage of crops and fodder, bearing witness to the rural life that once thrived on the estate. We bought the property in 2017, completely restored it in 2018 and envisaged it as a place for sharing, inspired by our passion for Italy, art, travel, gastronomy and design.
Ideally situated near Lucca, Florence and Pisa, the property is an excellent base to explore the cities of art, local markets, mountain restaurants and hiking trails from. Its peaceful setting guarantees tranquillity, privacy and a change of scenery. The extensive gardens and the lounge area, surrounded by rose bushes, provide the perfect setting for both relaxation and photo shoots. The house welcomes both families seeking peace and quiet and creative projects, and regularly collaborates with international influencers. It can also host private events, with capacity deliberately limited to 30 people to preserve the venue’s exclusive and intimate atmosphere.
Just a few minutes from home, “Pane e Marmellata” is a popular spot to sit down and enjoy their homemade pastries. In Lucca, “Buca di Sant’Antonio”, the town’s oldest family-run restaurant, serves traditional Tuscan cuisine. Set amidst the vineyards, "Sardi" combines a vineyard with a restaurant. We serve their wines here. Fashion and interior design enthusiasts can discover “Ama”, a vintage shop selling clothes, accessories and antique items. Finally, the market in Forte dei Marmi, which takes place every two weeks, is renowned for its designer clothing, ceramics, jewellery and Italian products.
Available for exclusive hire for film shoots and photo shoots, this 220 m² former Tuscan farmhouse, renovated by an architect, combines authenticity with modernity. Rearranged around a spacious open-plan living area, it retains its high ceilings, exposed beams, terracotta floors and large windows overlooking the countryside.
