In the heart of an expanse of meadows and wooded hills, Ca N'heras reigns over its land, standing proud with its stonework, tower and crenellated walls. The various buildings from different periods and in different styles, all topped with canal tiles, form a hamlet which is isolated from the rest of the world, yet close to Girona and the coast. Raw materials and patina on the walls bring yesteryear back to life, hinting of many stories and memories from its long, long life. Come here to revel in the beauty of the surroundings and take advantage of the many services on offer, savour the benefits of the countryside and relax.
A historic residence surrounded by sumptuous forests, Mas de las Heras has been in our family for almost a thousand years!
It is made up of several buildings, including a chapel and an oil and flour mill which are still in perfect condition. Its architecture reflects the passage of time, from the oldest, rustic part dating back to the 13th century, to the 19th-century improvements, including a neo-Gothic tower, "la Torre de les Aigües". The architecture has changed with each era, style and the needs of the family and its activities. Today, Ca n'Heras d'Adri offers spaces that have been restored to their original state, all the while preserving the original materials from each period. The original stone floors, old fireplaces and beamed ceilings are visible everywhere.
The farmhouse, which was built in 1274 and now listed as a historic monument, has belonged to the Heras family since it was first built. The story of the family's rise from a simple farming family to the upper classes of the Catalan upper class is told here with the property’s development over the years. The house is bursting with stories and legends that will enchant our guests in front of a crackling log fire or during the guided tours on offer.
A journey through time and history to discover what seigneurial life was like. Here you can experience an ancestral way of life with a connection to nature and the essential, to silence and authenticity, to contemplation and intimacy. There isn't any technology here or high levels of comfort, just a feeling being able to disconnect from the modern world and return to simplicity in spaces that have been redesigned to reflect the earthy, medieval environment. We have an ecological swimming pool. We offer walks, donkey trails through the Vall de Llémena, aromatic experiences in the forest and guided tours of the house. Bicycles are available for our guests. Ca n'Heras d'Adri offers breakfast and dinner (by prior arrangement) with a 0-kilometre ecological food menu, cooked in our traditional ovens with produce from our garden. We produce our own oils and wines, as well as our own cheeses, made on site and matured in our own cellars.
Ca n'Heras d'Adri is off the usual regional tourist routes, but is only 15 minutes from the historic city of Girona. The farmhouse, set in a valley surrounded by forests, is ideal for going on long hikes, walks and bike rides. The valley is full of small churches and hermitages: the Romanesque churches of San Vicente in Canet, San Juan in Montbò and Santa Cecilia in Montcal, the Font de la Torre park and the 18th-century Rocacorba sanctuary. Don't miss the Puig d'Adri volcano, with its 12-kilometre-long lava flow from Canet to Domeny. The most visited area is the Fontaine Torre, at the confluence of the Rocacorba stream and the Rissec torrent. Here, the volcanic bedrock has been hollowed out over time by water, forming deep, narrow gorges. Other points of interest include the Montbò dolmen, the Boratuna cave and the Iberian village and archaeological site of Puy de Sant Andreu d'Ullastret.
