We fell under the spell of this friendly, traditional place, which is a delight for winter sports fans and those coming to contemplate the Alpine landscape alike. Chalet L'Harmonie is nestled in the heart of the Serre Chevalier valley, at an altitude of over 1 500 metres. It is right next to one of Europe's largest ski areas. Discreetly located in the hamlet of Serre Barbin, it is just a few minutes from Le Monêtier-les-Bains, where you can take advantage of the restaurants and small mountain shops, or relax in the thermal baths of Le Monêtier.
This mountain-style residence boasts a vast garden and uninterrupted mountain views. Local larch wood, chosen for its robustness and beauty, envelops the chalet, which rises over three levels. An entire floor is dedicated to conviviality around a central fireplace and a Kawai piano. Its meticulous decor blends furniture sourced from Parisian antique dealers with fine materials. Traditional elements of Alpine architecture blend harmoniously with modern comforts. The warm, intimate atmosphere is enhanced by exceptional sound insulation, creating a real cocoon of tranquillity.
The chalet was built at the request of one of France's greatest singer-songwriters, who was personally involved in its design. The authenticity, simplicity and discretion of the premises reflect the artist's soul. This is one of the last handmade Bayrou chalets, built by compagnons du devoir carpenters (skilled workers guild) in the pure tradition of the family business founded in 1890. This chalet tells a real story, one of remarkable craftsmanship and perfect harmony with the surrounding nature.
Reception and concierge services are provided by our house manager, who takes great care of our guests. You can plan your stay in advance, book your ski hire and lessons, get the best advice on restaurants and outings, order your dinner on arrival, have your breakfast delivered to your door or reserve the ingredients for a raclette to warm up the winter evenings. A private sauna is available for relaxing after a day on the slopes. You can book a massage in the specially equipped cabin.
Le Monêtier-les-Bains, at the foot of the Serre Chevalier ski area, with its 250 km of pistes, will delight skiers of all abilities. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will find the trails that wind around the hamlet of Serre Barbin, just a stone's throw from the chalet, perfect for soothing walks in both winter and summer. In terms of eating out, the "16âme" offers a modern and inventive cuisine featuring local produce in a refined setting. A little more relaxed, "La Marotte" restaurant in La Salle-les-Alpes serves generous local dishes in a warm atmosphere.
The chalet extends over 300 m2 and three levels. On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a small maid's room, a separate bathroom and a sauna. The first floor comprises a 30 m2 dining room, an adjoining kitchen equipped with a professional piano, a storeroom, an 80 m2 panoramic lounge arranged around a fireplace and a library. The second floor has four bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms, a dressing room, a toilet, a separate bathroom and an office area. Each floor has its own terrace.
