The chalet stands amongst its peers – perhaps looking a touch lighter in colour, yet just as sturdy, right on the edge of a larch forest on the mountainside. Built entirely of wood, with balconies on every floor and topped by a large, solid roof, it really has the look of the traditional chalets that have, in part, made Megève’s reputation. The chalet is already part of a wider history – that of a place destined to stand the test of time, whose finest chapters are yet to be written. Its location, the quality of its construction, the spacious and perfectly laid-out interior, and the exceptional comfort it offers: everything is in place to ensure that every stay, whatever the season, is a delight, in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape.
Megève is, above all, a place steeped in childhood memories, where I used to come on skiing holidays with my parents. As I grew up, I harboured the dream of one day building my own chalet here. I was finally able to make this a reality by purchasing a plot of land in a small family-run housing estate, of which I am now the only owner who is not a member of the family.
We wanted to create a chalet that combined modernity with mountain tradition. It comprises a concrete basement and ground floor, surmounted by two storeys constructed from larch beams, a particularly dense and durable mountain timber. The spacious rooms and exposed beams lend the whole property the cosy feel of a traditional chalet. We also paid particular attention to the insulation, which has been designed in accordance with the RE2020 standards, aimed at reducing the energy requirements and carbon footprint of new buildings whilst improving comfort, particularly during periods of high temperatures. Underfloor heating completes this system to ensure optimum thermal comfort all year round.
This chalet is, above all, about a meeting between a place, a project and a family. I bought the plot of land in the heart of a small family housing estate, where my holiday home is the only property not owned by the family. During the building work, a genuine relationship of trust naturally developed with the neighbours. They followed the project with great care and kindness, and seeing how delighted they were to watch the chalet come to life was a wonderful reward for me. I wanted to create a place where guests would immediately feel at home, combining the cosy atmosphere of the mountains with contemporary comfort. Each space has been designed with this in mind, with the aim of creating a setting that is both welcoming and comfortable, whilst remaining true to its surroundings.
We designed a spacious and comfortable chalet, ideal for sharing special moments with family or friends. The large kitchen, the dining room and the two living rooms, all centred around a double-sided fireplace, create warm and spacious living areas. We also wanted to provide a wide range of facilities: an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor Storvatt wooden hot tub, a gym, a yoga area, a children’s playroom, a home cinema, a pool table and table football. Less than five minutes from the ski lifts and the centre of Megève, the chalet enjoys a prime location. We either welcome guests ourselves or ask someone we trust to do so. A private chef, catering, babysitting and housekeeping can be arranged on request.
"La Ferme des Ors" in Demi-Quartier, near the chalet, sells milk, cheese, cured meats and produce from its goat and lamb farms. In Megève, the “Boucherie Bello” butcher’s and the “La Choco” bakery and patisserie make everyday shopping easy. For dinner, “Le Refuge” invites you to discover regional cuisine and Savoyard specialities, whilst “Le Chacha” and “Le Piaf” keep the evening going in a festive atmosphere. When it comes to nature, the Chemin du Calvaire and the walk to Lake Javen are among the most beautiful walks in Megève. The Jaillet circular walk, starting from Combloux, offers superb panoramic views of Mont Blanc. In summer, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, golf and tennis are great ways to make the most of the mountains. The Megève sports centre rounds off the facilities on offer with a swimming pool, an ice rink, a climbing wall and a wide range of sporting activities. Photos: Hugo Paget Photographie

The Chalet is built over several levels. The ground floor comprises the entrance hall, the garage, the heated ski room, the indoor swimming pool and the gym. The basement houses the leisure areas: a children’s playroom, a cinema, an area with a pool table and table football, as well as a wine cellar and a laundry room. Upstairs, the spacious living area comprises a double lounge with a double-sided fireplace, a dining room, a kitchen with a central island and a utility room, all opening onto a south-facing terrace with a jacuzzi. The master bedroom completes this floor. In the attic, there are four bedrooms, each with its own shower room.
