The capital of the Périgord Blanc is just the beginning of the region's treasures. The timber-framed house facades, ancient fortified dwellings and narrow, winding alleyways are all remnants of a long history which has left its mark over the eras. Just a stone's throw from Saint-Front cathedral, whose Byzantine outline inspired the architect of the Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre, Paris, here the Renaissance period takes centre stage. Sculpted decorations, elaborate railings and mullioned windows hint at the former prestige of this town house. The apartment is adorned in luminous white, enhanced by the warmth of the wood, highlighting the building's elegance. Comfort, simplicity and refinement make the apartment the ideal place to relax after the many sights and discoveries in the surrounding area.
I fell in love with the region because of its high quality of life, the richness of its history, which I am very interested in, but also because of its food and cultural vitality.
A gate from the street opens onto a listed courtyard dating back to the 14th century. The house entrance is a Renaissance door featuring ancient studded panelling, a carved stone surround and a mullioned window. A spiral staircase leads to the upper floors and now provides access to the apartments. The courtyard and street facades, including the door and fortified wall on the rue Limogeanne, as well as the roofs and the staircase were all listed in 1938.
The apartment is inside the Hôtel d'Abzac de la Douze, also known as the Hôtel de Mèredieu, which dates back to the 16th century. It is located in the historic centre and preserved sector of Périgueux, on a road lined with fine Renaissance houses that once led to one of the city gates. It is one of the city's most beautiful buildings.
The capital of the Périgord region has been showered with honours: the town has been awarded the "Ville d'art et d'histoire” (Art and History Town), "Patrimoine de l'Unesco" (Unesco Heritage) and "Ville fleurie" (City in Bloom) labels. The apartment is located in the preserved area of Périgueux city centre, on the right bank of the River Isle, just north of Saint-Front cathedral. Shops, markets and restaurants are within walking distance of the town house.
The ruins of a 1st-century amphitheatre lie hidden in the Jardin des Arènes, an eleven-hectare site in the heart of the city centre. My favourite places to eat: Café Louise and L'Épicurien, both in the pedestrian zone. The Saturday morning market is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds, a place where you can meet producers and enjoy local produce. At the Périgueux water sports centre, you can hire a canoe to discover the meandering Isle, a calm, yet relatively untouched river. In the summer, there is an unusual torchlit descent down the river. Last but not least, there are hiking trails through the Auvézère gorges, an exceptional natural site stretching from the green Périgord to the white Périgord.

The 85 m2 apartment is located on the second floor without a lift and is accessed via a spiral staircase. It has a kitchen opening onto the living/dining area, two bedrooms with 180 x 200 cm beds and a bathroom.
