The chateau, on the outskirts of Beaune, is surrounded by majestic trees and proudly shows off its prestigious origins. Built during the Belle Époque, whose aesthetic style and refinement has been incorporated into its design, the Château Albert Morot bears witness to the opulence of the man after whom it is named. His fate is, in fact, closely linked to that of Beaune and the wines that brought glory and wealth to Burgundy. Today, its history continues with passionate owners who have chosen to breathe new life into the estate to welcome amateur wine enthusiasts – and everyone else – to a setting perfectly suited to the quality of the wines they produce. All you need to do once you have settled in is to explore Burgundy and discover the breadth of its cultural and natural heritage to feel as if you are in paradise.
We chose this chateau because of its superb location, in the heart of a remarkable vineyard and just a ten-minute walk from Beaune town centre. As Burgundy natives, we wanted to become part of our region’s wine-growing history. Taking over this estate gave us the opportunity to breathe new life into a 19th-century house, whilst remaining connected to the world of fine Burgundy wines. We were also captivated by the region’s vibrancy and the richness of its heritage and cuisine.
Set in the heart of one hectare of grounds, surrounded by vineyards, the chateau has dominated the Beaune wine-growing landscape for over a century. This Belle Époque residence, built at the end of the 19th century in the style of grand bourgeois mansions, bears witness to the golden age of local wine-growing, marked in particular by the arrival of the railway in Beaune. The chateau features red brick and limestone facades. The house is spacious, with a floor area measuring approximately 640 m² and ceiling heights of 3.5 metres. We have completely refurbished the premises whilst retaining the original features, all the woodwork and architectural elements, whilst adding everything necessary to provide the comforts of a five-star hotel.
Albert Morot founded what was to become one of Burgundy’s leading wine merchants in 1820. In 1880, his granddaughter, Berthe Morot, acquired a seven-hectare vineyard in Beaune, in the centre of which she had the chateau and the wine cellars built. Over time, the family gradually moved away from the wine trade to focus exclusively on production and winemaking, with a strong presence in the Beaune vineyards and the eponymous appellation. Today, the estate cultivates eight hectares of vines using organic farming methods and produces wines full of character, true to the diversity of the Beaune terroirs. The vintages are sourced in particular from renowned vineyard sites such as Bressandes, Grèves, Teurons, Marconnets, Cent-Vignes, Toussaints and Aigrots. Among the vineyards is the Clos de la Bataillère, a rare monopoly vintage covering around two hectares in the Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru. The range is rounded off by exclusive vintages from Pommard, Auxey-Duresses and Meursault, as well as Burgundy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We purchased this estate in 2023 from a descendant of the family. We then carried out extensive modernisation work in the winery and at the chateau, driven by a desire to blend heritage with modernity.
We wanted to make the chateau a place where we could share our love of Burgundy, its wines and its way of life. Set amongst the vineyards, just a stone’s throw from Beaune’s historic centre, the property can accommodate up to 15 people – whether it's a family, a group of friends or for a business gathering. It can be rented out in its entirety, with ten bedrooms and spacious living areas opening onto private gardens. We always offer our guests a private tour of our vineyard, followed by a tasting of our wines and a tour of the historic cellars, built by Gustave Eiffel’s workshops. For us, it is a way of sharing with them our history and our passion for this region.
In Beaune, the Route des Grands Crus and the vineyards of Burgundy can be explored on foot, by bike or during a wine-tasting session, with the Château du Clos de Vougeot being a must-see stop. At the Edmond Fallot mustard factory, you can learn about the history and traditional methods of mustard-making. Every Saturday morning, Beaune’s famous market is a must. Beaune Montgolfière offers a hot-air balloon flight over the vineyards and picturesque countryside. Near the chateau, Bourgogne Évasion offers bike hire so you can explore the vineyards. Bouzaise park is the perfect place for a peaceful stroll. When it comes to dining, “La Table du Square” serves refined cuisine that follows the seasons, “Au Bon Accueil” has a friendly atmosphere, and “La Boucherie Restaurant du 16” is the place to go for meat lovers.
The chateau provides an ideal setting for professional discussions, collective reflection and strengthening team spirit. Its seminar room is fully equipped with audiovisual facilities, whilst 15 rooms are available to accommodate participants on site. Prices are determined according to the package chosen, the number of people and the services required, particularly full board. The estate thus combines work with the opportunity to discover Burgundy’s wine-growing heritage, through its facilities, private tastings and tours of historic cellars.
