In a well-known street in the Latin Quarter, only a plaque bearing its name indicates its location. Here, discretion is the order of the day: true renown consists in being known simply for your qualities. Here, everything happens in the depths of the earth and history. Nestled in a series of 13th-century cellars, renovated and fitted out with great care, Cercle 65 opens its doors to small groups of cosy atmosphere lovers, where you can indulge in the pleasures of conversation while savouring delicious food. Among these stone walls, where the history of Paris has been written since the Middle Ages, Le Cercle 65 offers the opportunity to meet for an evening away from the hustle and bustle. It is a rare address.
The opportunity presented itself unexpectedly. My career was already in catering business. I was looking for a place that was intimate, authentic and linked to history, a place where I could welcome friends and clients. As I descended the stairs for the first time, I felt an immediate connection with the walls, the old stones and the soul of this place. I felt straight away that I'd found what I was looking for. I can now combine my passion for architecture, heritage and gastronomy with running a small-scale family-run business.
The site which is typical of the Latin Quarter, consists of a series of vaulted cellars dating back to the 13th century and located beneath a building constructed in the 17th century on the moat of Philippe Auguste's surrounding wall. It is located within an area classified as a “Bâtiments de France” building. The customer reception area measures 65 m². The complex includes a small professional kitchen measuring around 4 m², a bar, a dining room, a small smoking room and a cloakroom. Everything has been thought out to make sure that events are as smoothly run as possible, in a discreet, authentic venue steeped in history.
These are the building's eight original cellars, probably dug during the construction of the Philippe Auguste beltway in the 13th century. Used as communal areas for almost 650 years, they were later transformed into reception areas and venues for a variety of activities. They were listed as "Parisian nightclubs", i.e. party venues at the beginning of the 20th century in registers which I have a copy of. In the 1970s, one of the co-owners carried out work to make the cellars more welcoming and regularly held receptions there. My predecessor had adapted them for yoga practice. I acquired this complex in 2021 and transformed it into a commercial space, with a large-scale catering licence.
I offer my guests an experience with the main theme being "conviviality". I take particular care to welcome each group personally, in the spirit of a guest house, and to offer services to suit all tastes. The culinary offering, under my direction or that of partners, caterers or renowned chefs, is flexible, ranging from family meals to gastronomic services, for a buffet, a cocktail party or a private or business dinner, around a single table seating twelve. The place has a hushed, discreet atmosphere and is equipped with a piano. In addition, it can be used for cultural activities: concerts, DJs, wine masterclasses, etc. Here anything is possible, the only limit is your imagination. Having lived in Paris for more than 50 years, I can help you make reservations at many establishments and orchestrate a tailor-made evening or itinerary, from the visit to the meal.
The "Oktobre" restaurant, one of the best in the area, with a talented chef and excellent value for money. The Castel institution for those looking for a mythical experience, the place is even better than its reputation. "Pépites", on rue de Buci, combines the concept of a traditional wine shop with that of a wine bar, offering some 1 500 wines to enjoy with a cheese board or a variety of dishes at the counter or on a sofa in the vaulted basement. The "Chez Fernand" restaurant is typical, friendly and famous for its wine list and 50s atmosphere. "La Maison Cluny”, opposite the Jardin de Cluny, serves some of the best veal sweetbreads in Paris in a calm, leafy setting.
The venue can host cocktail parties or a sit-down dinner. With a surface area of 65 m2, it comprises three main rooms, including one with a table for 12 guests, a bar, a room with a smoking room equipped with a piano, a cloakroom and a professional kitchen. All the rooms are on the same level in the basement.

The venue offers made-to-measure tasting experiences: wine tastings with master classes led by a sommelier, food and wine pairings, buffets or gourmet meals prepared in-house or by partner chefs to suit every taste and occasion.
